aidsAids starts with HIV or Human Immunodeficiency Virus. The disease is transferred by sexual contact or contact with an infected person's blood. It then damages the immune system, the system that fights disease. This causes the body to slow down, keeping the body from fighting the HIV infection. Eventually the immune system becomes so weak that diseases and infections begin to attack the body. Aids or Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome is then diagnosed. Aids can be treated not cured. Some statistics are: 6,800 people are infected with Aids everyday, most of them under 25. Women are 3 times more vulnerable to Aids then their male partner. 2 million people died of Aids-related diseases in 2007(That's 2,000,000 people!). 2.5 million people were INFECTED with Aids in 2007(Add 2,5000,000 people! That's 4,500,000 people!) 96% people are infected in developing countries. HIV is spreading every day, and is present in almost every country. When 8% of a country is infected the economy slows down, due to supply and demand. You think about it. Make that next donation. Click here to support a child.
